Description

Jeepers, don't be such a square! Someone said that to the NuTone Metro Oval Recessed Medicine Cabinet, and it listened. Perfect for modern bathrooms and pedestal sinks, this low-profile oval cabinet looks like a regular mirror, but it's recess-mounted so there's plenty of room inside. The distortion-free mirror has a lovely, wide beveled-glass edge that looks clean and sparkles in the light.


Inside the Metro Oval Medicine Cabinet are two white shelves, rubber door cushions for quiet closing, and a magnet to keep it shut. The piano-style hinge opens to 90 degrees, and it's reversible so it can open left or right. Who's the fairest of them all? The Metro.

    Beautiful cabinet with quality construction. I replaced a 30 year old NuTone cabinet--this new one is slightly thinner material,but still okay. The mirror is excellent quality. The old cabinet had holes for screws 1 3/8" from edge to match up with a single stud that would be common. Holes in this new cabinet are 2" from edge which miss the single stud. They provide hollow wall anchors, but I would buy more solid ones to carry a heavier load-- but even this, I fear, would ultimately allow the hinge to flex with continued use. Accordingly, I drilled holes further in to match up with my single stud. If you do this you will need to add a filler to the underside (I used oak) to keep the screw from crushing the metal at that point. I also added bolts through their existing holes to strengthen the hinge attachment as there are two layers of metal at that point-- or you could run screws into the hollow wall as well as into your existing single stud. If you have the option, tear into the wall and add a short stud next to the existing one to bring the anchor point out to 2". In new construction just put in two studs.

    It arrived in good condition - we need to return it and called Hayneedle to do so. Still waiting for instructions.
